OF CHARLES OLSON’S BOOKS
When Ralph Maud’s Collection of Charles Olson’s Books arrived at the Gloucester Writers Center late in 2015, it was accompanied by a catalogue listing all of the materials (books, articles, periodicals) contained within as well as the source and/or location of each archived copy. This word document was more than 70 pages in length and represented the Collection in bibliographic detail, as well as Ralph Maud’s approach to numbering and organization. Most materials are alphabetized by author’s last name or in the case of periodicals, by the name of the periodical.
In the ensuing months, staff and volunteers have worked to reconcile the physical collection with the catalogue. The plan is to migrate the catalogue to a searchable online database, thereby making available the wealth of titles and the wide scope of subject matter to anyone interested. The document below is the original document that Ralph Maud compiled. Future plans include adding the missing copies of materials to the Maud/Olson Library (MOL), adding keywords to make the MOL catalogue more searchable, adding images and transcriptions of each bookplate on which Ralph Maud noted the importance of the material or the way in which it was used by Charles Olson.
