The Gloucester Writers Center is a place for working writers in a working town
Stephen Kalaghan is a long time Cape Ann area resident, having lived in Gloucester, MA and Rockport, MA since 1990. Originally from Weymouth, MA, he is a 1986 graduate of Cotting School, in Lexington, MA, and a 1994 graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Boston, where he earned a B.A. Degree, majoring in Theatre Arts.
Past writing credits include freelance contributions to The Gloucester Daily Times, New Bedford Standard-Times, and The Boston Globe. He has been writing spoken word material since 2007, and presenting the material—in a style that he describes as “spoken word rock & roll,” since 2008. He was a regular at the “Tuesday Night Open Mic,” which was hosted by local musician Steve Caraway at The Dog Bar in Gloucester, MA. More recently, he has been presenting material on occasion at The Gloucester Writers Center’s Open Mic and “The Rockport Poetry Open Mic” at Brackett’s Ocean View in Rockport.
