The Gloucester Writers Center is a place for working writers in a working town
Boston poet Stephen Jonas wrote a seminal book of poetry titled Exercises for Ear. “They are a practice on the poet’s keyboard” Gerrit Lansing has written—“short” and “pithy.” We will consider some of Jonas’s etudes and his approaches to writing about the world around him. Then you will write your own practices, or exercises, tapping into the people, places, conversations, neighborhoods and events in your life.
Joseph Torra has been writing, editing, teaching, and promoting the work of other writers for over 25 years. For more information on his work, please visit joetorra.com.
