FIRE AT SEA
with Q&A led by Dan Connell
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 11 AT 6:30 PM
CAPE ANN CINEMA
21 MAIN STREET, GLOUCESTER
Join us for a screening of Italy’s Oscar entry for Best Foreign Film, Fire at
Sea, followed by a Q&A led by Forum chair Dan Connell, who has interviewed
shipwreck survivors and has just returned from refugee camps in Ethiopia.
The movie weaves the stories of desperate African refugees and migrants who risk
the perilous Mediterranean crossing with those of the people of Lampedusa, an
insular fishing community off the Sicilian coast.
“The director is able to look at a dauntingly huge topic of global import — the
migrant crisis — and find within it the little moments of poetic resonance that
illuminate the human lives behind the stark statistics,” says the London
Guardian.
