COVID-19 Update

July 9, 2020 By henry

Covid-19 shuttered the Gloucester Writers Center and the Maud / Olson Library. The pandemic locked the door on these special places devoted to reading, writing and rumination. It put  an end to our intimate gatherings.  It also put an end to all our programming.  We tried telepathy but settled for the virtual. Fish Tales, Open Mic, new classes and our new “Write Way Up: Conversations w/ Writers” are all distributed online via social media for now. We continue to produce programming the engages and educates.  Check our content below!

End of July-August:

An interview with Mark Kurlansky on his new book Salmon with Gloucester fisherman, playwright, attorney Ken Riaf.

An interview with Margot Shea about her new book  Derry City: Memory and Political Struggle in Northern Ireland with writer/interviewer Ann Driscoll.

Fish Tales – Are We There Yet

Join Casey Breton on our second virtual Fish Tales. She will be on Vimeo with her cast from near and far, as they explore this wide ranging theme.

5th annual Amiri Baraka Scholarship presentation to graduating senior Danielle Denman. The event will include a short reading by Danielle.

Jay Featherstone and Tom Daley have have a conversation about their work and life.

September

Jennifer Finney Boylan speaks with her Board Member cousin, MJ Boylan, in an interview about her new book.

Joe Torra & Yonghong Gu are back to continue the English and Mandarin reading of Yonghong Gu’s  novel in progress.

October

January 2020
