OUR PROGRAMS
The Gloucester Writers Center offers a historic, intimate space for learning and practicing the craft of writing. We also offer an outlet for unheard voices and untold stories to be shared. For over ten years a remarkable group of writers, educators, and artists have come together at the GWC to offer their experience and craft to other writers and the community at large.
**Please note that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, some of our programs were put on “pause.” Look for new programs in 2022, as well as the return of some of our most popular events and programs. Thank you for understanding.
ABOUT OUR WRITING GROUPS
At the Gloucester Writers Center, we support opportunities for people to connect around a shared desire to write. GWC-affiliated Writing Groups offer a forum for those with similar interests, writing goals, and/or life experiences to come together to write and build community.
Most groups are led by volunteers who, with group input, determine the focus and frequency for meeting and any prerequisites to join. Some groups meet on Zoom, others in person; most are limited in size, to ensure all voices are heard. Staff at the GWC provide logistical support, including guidelines and tips for successful writing groups.
The GWC also partners with organizations across Cape Ann to co-create writing groups and other opportunities that address specific needs in our region.
If you belong to a local organization and want to collaborate, OR if you are interested in starting a writing group, please contact adam@gloucesterwriters.org.
And remember: all are encouraged to share their voice at our monthly Open Mics and at other events throughout the year. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram, and check our calendar, to stay up-to-date on opportunities!
