Charlotte Lacey, her brother Al Sawyer, her son and husband Hamer Lacey stand for a photo after Charlotte’s reading of Only a Dot on the Map: St John Remembered. Brother Al’s visit to 126 East Main Street was the first since Vincent passed in 2007. The space has long housed spirited discussions between Al, his brother Paul and Vincent. It surely does today as well. This summer alone GWC has been host to Fred Whitehead from Kansas City who spoke about John Brown, Miriam Nichols from Vancouver who discussed her book “Radical Affections: Essays on the Poetics of Outside, Catherine John who discussed Amiri Baraka’s concept of the “Changing Same,” Sascha Feinstein and Paul Pines who read from selected work. The community discussion that follows an event make the GWC a special place. We look forward to more.
