At low tide\nI am on the riprap\, clattering\nwith boots and a pail\,\nrock over rock; I choose\nthe crevice\, I reach\nforward into the dampness\,\nmy hands feeling everywhere\nfor the best\, the biggest. Even before\nI decide which to take\,\nwhich to twist from the wet rocks\,\nwhich to devour\,\nthey\, who have no eyes to see with\,\nsee me\, like a shadow\,\nbending forward.
