DESCRIPTION:  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n200 years of Silver Bullet Schemes to Solve Hunger and Sell Products \nWill Allen grew up on a small fair in southern California and served in the Marine Corps between the Korean and Vietnam wars.  He received a PhD in Anthropology (focused on Peruvian tropical forest agriculture) and taught at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign\, and the University of California\, Santa Barbara\, before being fired and sentenced to a year in jail for civilrights and antiwar activism. He returned to faming and farm labor full-time in 1972 and has been farming organically ever since in Oregon\, California and Vermont\, where he now co-manages Cedar Circle Farm.  He founded the Sustainable Cotton Project in 1991 and served as its executive director for thirteen years. DESCRIPTION:Kate will read from old writing and new and  a short preview from her developing performance/dance\nMonsieur Teste Part II called “The Train to Paris.” \nKate Tarlow Morgan\, New York City-born choreographer and somatic educator teaches Body-Mind Centering™\, Ideokinesis\, and Awareness-through-the-Body in schools\, clinics and studios. She has been a Rhythms® teacher for 35 years and is presently working on creating a Rhythms Archive going back to the 1920s. As a writer\, Kate is Editor-in-chief of Currents Journal for the Body-Mind Centering Association and editorial consultant for The Lost & Found Poetics Document Initiative at C.U.N.Y-Center for Humanities. She is also the author of Circles and Boundaries (Factory Press 2011)—a cultural history of NYC that includes essays hip-hop\, strip tease\, the subway\, and Lower Manhattan archeology. Kate is also co-editor of Movement and Experience: A Body-Mind Centering Anthology\, (North Atlantic Press 2011). DESCRIPTION:B.H. Fairchild’s speaker in “The Blue Buick: A Narrative” says\n\n    …an able catcher sets his feet\n    to avoid the extra step that makes him miss\n    the steal at second\, a poet hears the syllable\n    before the word\, a good machinist “feels” the cut\n    before he measures it.\n\nThe leaders will offer a series of prompts that position a writer\nto hear the next “syllable before the word.” During the workshop\nitself\, participants will begin responding to four such prompts\nso that they leave with four new poems started\, each employing\na different strategy for writing sound to sound.\n\nLeaders will provide handouts; participants need to come with paper\nand pen/pencil.\n\n$25.00\nPlease register by emailing GloucesterWriters@gmail.com.\nNobody turned away for lack of funds.\n\n\n Moira Linehan’s second collection\, INCARNATE GRACE\, was published by Southern Illinois University Press (SIUP) in April 2015. Her debut collection\, IF NO MOON—selected by Dorianne Laux—won the 2006 Crab Orchard Series in Poetry open competition and was also published by SIUP (2007). In 2008 IF NO MOON was named an Honor Book in Poetry in the 8th annual Massachusetts Book Awards.In 2010 Linehan’s poem\, “Last Wishes\,” received the Foley Poetry Award from America magazine. After careers as a high school English teacher and an administrator in high tech and academic settings\, Linehan now writes full-time and occasionally leads poetry writing workshops in the Boston area. She has been awarded numerous residencies\, including recent ones at the Cill Rialaig Project in Co. Kerry\, Ireland; Fundación Valparaíso in Mojácar\, Spain; the Tyrone Guthrie Centre in Co. Monaghan\, Ireland; the Whiteley Center at Friday Harbor\, WA; and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. Linehan holds a MFA in Writing from Vermont College. Her website is www.moiralinehan.com.\nMary Pinard teaches courses in literature and poetry in the Arts and Humanities Division at Babson College. She has served in a range of administrative positions there as well\, including as Director of the Undergraduate Rhetoric Program\, Coordinator of the Creativity Stream in the MBA Program\, Writing Center Director\, and Division Chair.\nShe has published poems in a variety of literary journals—including The Iowa Review\, Harvard Review\, Prairie Schooner\, and The Georgia Review—and she has been the recipient of several national awards for her poetry. Her essays on poets\, including Lorine Niedecker and Alice Oswald\, have been published in critical anthologies and scholarly journals. Portal\, her first collection of poems\, was published by Salmon Press in 2014.
