SUMMARY:Veterans Writing Workshop Spring\, 2015
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nDorothy Shubow Nelson\, M.A. English\, Workshop Facilitator \n  \nThe goal of this workshop is to write. \n  \nThe Veterans Writing Workshop is designed to help people get started or move forward on their own writing projects. Veterans from all conflicts are welcome. There will be eight sessions on Fridays from March 13 until May 1 from 10 – 12 at the Veterans Center\, 12 Emerson Avenue. The workshop is limited to 12 writers. \n  \nWe will write new work regularly: sketches\, personal stories\, poems\, prose poems\, letters\, depictions of the self and beyond the self\, and descriptions of visual experiences. The workshop encourages attention to the inner voice and its encounters with the outer world. As witnesses\, writers will describe and interpret their ongoing thinking\, observations and memories in the process of making meaning. \n  \nThere will be time for all writers to read from their work and to listen and learn from the writings of others in a friendly\, supportive atmosphere. We write to understand the world and we also create literature to know ourselves. \n  \nThe workshop will inspire people to realize the benefits of an ongoing writing practice. The confidence of writers will be reinforced by seeing the mind at work as it emerges on the page. I am eager to read your work and converse with you in writing from week to week. I also want to meet with everyone\, one-on-one. \n  \n“We shall not cease from exploration \nAnd the end of all our exploring \nWill be to arrive where we started \nAnd know the place for the first time.” \n  \n\n\n\nT.S. Eliot\, Four Quartets \n  \n  \nRegister with Lucia Amero at the Office of Veterans Services \n12 Emerson Avenue. Call 978-281-9740. \nThis workshop is supported by the Gloucester Office of Veterans Services \nand the Gloucester Writers Center. \nThere is no charge for taking this workshop. \n  \nDorothy Nelson has taught writing and literature for over 25 years. \nFormerly\, Senior English Lecturer at UMass Boston\, \nshe is on the board of the Gloucester Writers Center. \n  \nFor more information contact: Dorothy.Nelson@umb.edu \n \n\n\n\n\nShare this:\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)\n Tumblr\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest
