Kate Tarlow Morgan, choreographer, modernist, teacher, author of Circles & Boundaries (Factory School 2011) and recent essay "The Body Is A House," is artist-in-residence at the Writer's Center. She will lead a panel discussion on the reading of Charles Olson's essay "Proprioception"(1965) and on demonstrations behind the word.

 

Guest Panelists:

 

Ammiel Alcalay, writer, New American poets scholar, teacher. Recent works include neither wit nor gold (Ugly Duckling, 2011), The Lost and Found Initiative (CUNY Center for Humanities), from the warring factions (reprint, 2012) and soon, a little history, essays that put Charles Olson at the center of 20th c. American culture.

 

Michael Franco, poet, playwright, director of the Word of Mouth readings in Cambridge, Contributing editor to LIFT. Since 1991, he has been at work on a multi-faceted narrative landscape entitled A Book of Measure; volume I & II of XXX volumes nearing completion.

Sarah Slifer, site-specific dancer, physicist, New Arts Festival local organizer, teacher and choreo-director of the Olson play, Apollonius of Tyana (1951).

Michael Peters, poet, musician, visual wordsmith, author of the sound-imaging poem Vaast Bin (Calamari, 2007) and forthcoming Sound Environment Programming the Post-1945 Moment: Olson, Cage, Sun Ra, Mac Low, and The Way Back In.

 

Mark Wagner, poet, teacher, musician, Director of the Center for Service Learning and Civic Engagement at Worcester State University.  Mark is celebrating the publication of The Immediate Field, a Brief History of the Communicative Body (Verlag-Springer, 2011).
