The Gloucester Writers Center is a place for working writers in a working town
The Embodied Voice
The embodied voice is one rooted not only in larynx and throat but the Earth; it retains the animal, the sounds of the world rising up through the body. As Charles Olson wrote:
whatever you have to say, leave
the roots on, let them
dangle
And the dirt
Just to make clear
where they come from
These three sessions are an opportunity to drop down out of our heads, fall in love with words and sound, speak from our roots. Strength and tenderness in our spoken voice brings alive the written word. There will be plenty of time for writing.
$150. Fridays, 10-12pm – January 17, 24 and 31. Open to all – poets, writers and beginners. Limited to eight, minimum six.
This class is full. Registration is closed.
