Ms. Mitchard is the author of twenty-one books of fiction and non-fiction, with more than 4 million copies in print worldwide, in thirty-one languages.

 

The Deep End of the Ocean, the first selection of the Oprah Winfrey Book Club, is a #1 New York Times bestseller. Her book was also adapted into a major motion picture by actress Michelle Pfeiffer.

 

Her YA series, The Midnight Twins, is now in development by Kaleidoscope Entertainment for HBO. Mitchard’s novels have won or been short-listed for the Orange Broadband Prize for Fiction, the Bram Stoker Award, the Shirley Jackson
Award, the Heartland Prize for Fiction, and the U.K.’s Talkabout Prize.

 

Her work includes five New York Times bestsellers. She has also authored an essay collection, Dispatches from the Mother Ship and a memoir, Mother Less Child.

 

Currently Ms. Mitchard is professor of fiction and non-fiction in the MFA Programs in Creative Writing at Miami University of Ohio and Wilkes University. Mitchard grew up in Chicago. She now lives on Cape Cod with her family.
